collecting

well, to change the topic a bit i spent the most ever for a painting last night off ebay, i just had to have this picture by Jimmy Sudduth, i have started to collect what i consider really good folk art, by some of my hero's now while i can afford it, i don't know how many times they stuff i liked sky rockected as time goes on, i have already got Seymore Perkins and Tonney, one thing of note, alot of these fellows, the main ones happen to be ol' black men stuck in some way out place and a bit eccentric, why?

One of my good buddies Freddie McCoo, talked about this, i think its like the old likings of the primative modern, except this is the old south, which is disapearing. Something i noted on my drive over there last year. I think with artists like Sudduth they have appeared, sincer in approach and constant in style. kinda like a backwoods Giacometti ,. too attact fans , now crittques?, naaa, not thier style.
Also it helps to be a bit crazy, but i like crazys, it adds more flare. And its more inspireing , as an artist, this conitation of a lifestyle, the rual folk artist.
There is a whole southern seen to it,.

One of the funnyer note about going an working out in the big Bend Desart, is you really feel , something gong on and your this character inside this movie, , hey i think its alright to pretent to be in some movie, its like religious reactment , its romantic. and it may be the only thing real about art anyway.
