waiting for the nachos

IM002290.JPG

well i am working on this set of 16 pics, here is two of them, i am also trying to resolve a delima,

i found out one of my mostest majorist paintings is in jeoprady , a painting called "Fenceline"1995 its along story, but i have to find out that this painting i loaned to somebody is destroyed or saved, its been an on going crisis, this last week, i got real steamed about it,, not over JB, i know him to good to get mad at him any more, but the kinda folks around here, (in Texas) that like to destroy art?!, i guess its one of my hot topic,

I sat in mazement, imagining some one burning this painting, it remined me of some other inccodents of the fucked-up Houston culture i come from view on art and people artict lives, " just fuck it throw it away", its the sorta view which values nothing personal, like the suburbian farmer middle class mall going morrons, could run across like a diary of some one and think this is awful and pitch in the garbage, JB told me his gradffather pitched alot of his art work, i thought , man an antiquer would die to get all his stuff, for free or what ever, don't burn it ,
my God,
its just sorta made me realise the kinda culture i grew up around who don't value arty stuff and strange arty stuff should be destroyed ,
its there believe me!
the only way i could have ever gotten threw to these kinda folks is $ thats all they know anyway as in regards to whats valueable?

i rember one time i ran across this painting, when i was walking from my house to Freddys, it was a larg painting, of some spacey landscapes, i couldnt figure it out, but it was face down in the mud next to the trash can, out by the curb. i grabed it cause the strechers look good but apone realing what it was i sorta thought it was a copy or in the gerna of N,Wilson's work ( this local prof who has been painting here in San Marcos sinces the 70's, . i figured it must have been a student of his, but apone futher looking i concluded it was one of his paintings, like 5ft by 5ft, i took it over to a friend of mine and procesed to clean it up , i knew someone who colected his work and gave it to them basicly and i called up the artist to ask about the painting,
Aparently he threw the painting away years ago, he knew what it was, and why did it still exist, !?
some one stole it out of the dumpster at the college and had it hanging in there aptment until they got kicked out and there stuff curbed , i knew who owened it, but by that time i had giving the painting to this person who colected Wilson's work, so this controvery broke out about who owend the painting, Wilson always one to say you should never complete a painting, said that this painting wasn't done, and should be destroyed, i had to disagree, i thought it was done, and i had the pleasure of doing restoration on it cause it was damaged, i would kid with him asking him detials about the painting, and i would swear that there was a rooster comb somewhere trying to be expressed(i was his former student),
in the end he agreed to give the painting to the lady who has bought several of his pieces end of story but, the person who stole it from the dumpster said it was stolen by here from the landlord, i wrestled with it but concluded that if some one has landlord issues, just burdening them with your stuff almost daring them to trash it is risking alot , cause thay just might do it, so to me she surrended her right over the painting by being irrisponcible,.
case close
but what i found even more disturbing was the landlords curbing the art,
and i knew the couple to,
I happen to run across them a year form the facts of the situwation and asked them about the painting, almost like i scored big time, from them,
it went something like this,
hey did you throw away a painting, or was that one of your tentants who threw this really larg painting away a year ago....?
and in a loud boastful mannor about having it out with a bad tentant, "yea we put this person out#$@#$%, and the painting too"

"really, you threw out the painting",
" yea" responeded
i started laughing , " well i ended up puilling it out of your trash and do you know who that was, the artist"
kinda like an Antiques roadshow suspence moment,
"that painting is worth at least 3000, !"
do you know i sold the thing for a grand to this couple who colects this guys work! "

a lesson learned,
it shut them up and then i wasn't satified with the responce no crying or anything out angry over the lost, so i made fun of people who throw away art for a while , talking about how big of an idiot they are, its the only way to get threw to them, typical Houstonians, "what you threw away ,a 100 dallar item you idiot"
thats all these fucking folks know is money, whats it worth, ?

email me if any of you's got any good stories like this..

"one man's trash another man's treasure"
