2004 "its over"

Well 2004 is done with, threw, finnished, kaput! An on with another year, !
this painting on paper is this new line of rapid sketch painting with polyurthain, man i love this , the color tones look great, i am posting four more on ebay, (to cheep to be allowed) but i need to raise money for my stay over at the warehouse, so any one who buys these, Thanks!

this is a photo, of the open fires used to cook the beef there at the resturant, its right there before you enter, and man its hot!, when they had the fire in this hallway the whole building smelled of smoke, and there must have been like decades of sute build up on the walls, it felt like you were waiting in line for hell. especaialy if it was sumer.
It used to blow my mind about how this place was set up, I imagined telling this concept to the city or a resturant developer,
"Yea i want to put the main fire that cooks everything, like an open wood burring stove that sucks the smoke out in to the pits , have it, there in the line where the custemers can wait to make their order"
I love it! its funny watching alll these tourist try and keep ther cool and patients (like what kinda place is this? it isn't BBQ at Chillies), while waiting in line with there screaming kids, all because they heard about the place in a magazine, ( by the way this place is very famous)

this is a photo of one of the good cooks who will cut your meat for ya, and serve it on butcher paper, the best Brisket in the world!. you eat it with a plastic knife, no forks or spoons,.
when you get to this point, the point of ordering, you see these like butchers who who look like they have been puring molten steel or something, imagine hanging out by a smokefilled room and a open grill for eight hours, they have the look of a hard life of cutting meet, the torture and love it all.

after the being in the darken meat cutting room you get to get your sides, in this well lite cool side room or hall,
its has a wierd psychological effect, you wait in line may be ten minutes in this dark smoke hall, get served by a crew of butterball cynibites and you step into heaven whipe the sweat off and order, a sour and dill pickel and cheese, please.

so i sit down to eat with about four slices of bread, and brisket and hotsause , on a big sheet of butcher paper, along with the good folk of Lockhart. Many have tryed to imatate this place and failed, the building is very unique, it has this atmospher to it, right off the square of Lockhart.

another place i will go to is Country Store in Luling, i like that place to.
One time i was there and these highway tourist were eating an older skinny well groomed man and his wife i would swear he was college prof or something, and well, he wanted to get some more untencels like a fork for his plate the server said we ain't got any , then older man said under his breath "what your to cheep to afford forks", the guy just didn't get it, or the tradition,. the server heard his grumbleings and said thats the way we do it here, the old man thought it was "com on" or somethig and start throwing open skoualles at him, the rest of the good folk in Luling eatin there that afternoon took notice, .
"Whatta an Asshole!"
i about poped up from my chair to get a much needed tea refill and was walking up on this guy, i looked over to the server and had this look like how dare this sob come in here and tell us how to serve him, the server started addressing me, and the man zipped over to his wife,
"A man could get his ass whopped for something like that, it don't mean nuthing for the good people of Luling to whopp an smart ass college profs ass, especially if he ain't from here, "

these three paintings are going to be these houses in the woods , one called "hog and dog get alll tied up" one simple one and the other "ispy" . I guess in retrospect, all this work started in October this year, (all still in progress), is sorta like gloss enamble white run with alot ogf blackj stringy line work, one of the important things i say when i am painting, , painting is about line work it can be blurred to be defined,.
i expect to be done with all these in March 2005.

CDC's one year Birthday!

first set to be gathered here was the building of the "Eyes of Texas" show here in San Marcos, in Sept , it took about a year to do the work and i stored it in an old enrty, they were inspired by the PFA's

Another adventure i had was the invention of these Whirlie gigs, i made some for this show i was in over in RC Gallery in SA, it was quit fun!

this is the two sets, Chappel hill 2001-2002 and FV- landscapes sketched out Floyd VA, made into painting, which i am going to have a show with in a couple of weeks

I had a show over at the (Hide out ) in Austin here is a cataloge of what was in the show

For a while i was all into this Halloween art, thanks to Ebay, i Started turning out alot of these then got burrned out,

there's going to be four more collections posted before March, the Barshow over in Austin, the next PFA'sII Brenham set 1-12, the Warehouse work dec-feb, And the ACC show which is FV the final set.

I suppose, that this was the bulk of the work, sorta like paintings based on these PFA's and all the Halloween chicken paintings, now being late December, i am refining this master Plastic Farm Animals models, into this last blow on the Warehouse.

El Campainia Van Horne

this is the first declaration of the Big Bend area campain to find a studio, first target is going to be Van Horn, i have some leads.
I have been on two adventures out there one in 1999-2000 in Redford the other 2002 in Marathon,. so i suppose its time to get back out there and see what stones i can over turn, i probaly bet i will be outta here march apr, which means the site will be more difficult to maintain. but who know it seems the net is everywhere these days

i think i am going to have a cheep going away party/ yard art sale some time in the spring. I like going out there it has a begining and an end to it and its a bit ruff in living, so to speek, but some how i manage on sales and nick nack,. its realy for the fun of it all.I was telling Justin this, he is from Uvalde, about just saying fuck it and go you will figure it out along the way. one of the best feelings i have every had in my life was painting in James ol barn out back getting all drunk listening to Fatboyslim late at night, the weather real ruff windy! hot too. you get this feeling your like this character in a movie, it must be the old west feelings, like the good the bad and the ugly, i love that movie, something simple and clean about the sands bright sun and dry climate.

one of the anitdotes i told justin about the whole Redford thing was me and Serge had this eastcoast artist type come out and try and show us up, it was fun he had this additude from the begining, " hey what are you guys doing out here, you think your important, that this is art! chicken paintings and angstridden exprssionistic crap!" i rember telling him well of cource no one care , who cars oat all , but hey lets pretent to be great its the desart, this place is loaded with wackos and profit type,. . he agreed and wanted to loosen up a bit on his work, he was a realist painter type and wanted to get wild and just make stuff up with out looking at it, he couldn't figure that out, but he knew looking at us, we looked at nothing, and made everything up,. oh the gaul!

thats one thing i like out there, you some how feel nothing else matters and you can live in this private art world , , mine is this ol moses type Biblical and throwing lighting from my hands kinda like the old master fromthe star wars movies, , hell you make a painting, one should believe its a feat of something right, like super heros ,
i would say its not acting as a super hero, but actualy comming up with a challege to be one, in skill, and imagination, the (game challege) to do that, , cause as soon as you can imgine a cliff, then you can picture flight,.

I had a good time last night, sorta getting drunk and argueing about art stuff, things i haven't talked about in a long time, VM is real interesting, i havn't seen a paint pushing violent babe painter in along time, ( thats sorts the way i started out) , I don't know why it must be the monster babe zone, very male, i guess the female of it is goth paintings? VM is more on the tribal side, heavy loud paintings, but i think he is changing . I told him that i rember when i stoped all the violent porno babes images when i made this painting of naked headless lesbians wrestling in mud, i said , yea this is stupid, at least the idea but i was really intrigued th design of it, and i ran across this quat that effected the way i saw theames,
"better to paint small things in big ways than big things in small ways"

one year review

It been almost a whole year, for Chicken Dead Chicken, i am going to do a recape on Dec 28 (the date for the first entry), sorta a sumery on all the sets, and groups of pictures,. (i also need to figure out how to arrange this site into gallerys?)
i heard a cold front is blowing threw here today the chickens are getting cold , i am goint to finish the building up the coup that is,
just about done , needs a steple and alot of trim work!

I also went to the Blue Genie x-mas Bizar , it has a montely assortmant of good and some bad stuff there, but its real nice, i kinda go back and forth alot in wanting to do that, i think i would be fun over all free beer!!,

the night we went there i drank some wine on top of beer, man i hate that! God i hate wine! it like never leaves the system, the next day,. its alot better to just get f-up on beer that wine, i rarely do hard liqure.

the Warehouse is pretty big, alot of space to move around in., there has been two Warhouse studio art spaces here in San Marcos over the last five years, this place was the first then this other one opened up arcose the highway, alot larger then this one. the crew had to move back and forth , dealing with landlord isssues and throwing to many wild partys, this warehouse is down town , not far from where i live, and alot of the artist thats in here are grads and a few undergrads,
one of this issues that always interests me is who lasts in this game of art, the warhouse artists all male and late twentys, a few seem to hold it together and proceed forth.

chicken coup

well, its a great day to work on the chicken coup, i have all this week to pull together this next set, over at the warehouse, i am goint to shoot the place down on Sunday night,
i am going to paint the building church white, it will match my fence and i ma going to trim it out real nice,.

I started over at the warehouse last night, got kinda drunk talking to these two other artist, Vince and Justin. it was alot of fun, it felt like the good ol days of hanging around and painting and talking, we mainly talked about the life etc.
"so i have about wo weeks to knok some shit out"

still working on the new chicken coup!

i mainly stretched up a bunch canvases and primed them for tonight , i now have a clearer idea of what to do. by the time we stopped talking it was 4;30 in the morning and we went and ate at Taco Cabanna sorta drunk still, i wasn't nessarly.
one of the things i keep telling them, is your work should point to the way to where you go in life, or what your into etc.,
both of the guys have differnt styles one is a sci-fi mystic abstractionist the other is pop graffitti type, he got in troube at the dept for taging all the walls in SWT the cops came to the class room and arrested him, it only marks two artists to be arrested for some art related projects there at the college, he said its been a big pain in the ass, they bend you over in fines etc, but he is still in school over there. Justin the Abstract , he has been out of school , graduwated a while back, and is getting restless of the warehouse life and is ready to move up to Austin, ,

one funny thing happen with my birds i brought another hen over an older one and boy the flock went bonkers on her, boy she was sweet chicken too, older real colorful and passive, the two roosters started ganging up on her, and it was getting brutal, me and my house mates were watching like a hen gang break in to show dominates, the two roosters started to try and mate with her it got so excited that while one rooster was on top of her the other got on top of him and started fucking him, all while the other hens were pecking at the new chicken's head, it was insain, so i had to take her back, poor chicken.

I guess now being monday, i am going to go over and rent a space over at the warhouse, its this place in down town San Marcos where a couple of artists work, D.Hodges,B.Pretree.justin and Marco and Vence, so there is a crew there, (the Voice of God Durham was there) i think it will be fun i have about two weeks to put forth i believe about 8 new paintings, based on the PFA's
you know one of the amazing things i like about being around other artists is this sence that its all this game, its sorta like your youthful ambitions vs your "been there done that" i supposes with art your in continual dual with your own believe with what your doing is supposed to be powerfull vs the eventual delusion that your nothing, ,
it maybe called maturetity,
but i do rember....
a time when i would be sipping a beer at this bar and watching one of my favorite bands,, realising that they ride everything on this one moment to play this live set, and put worth the utmost extereme efforts to make an impression that at one time they were the "shit,"
i do rember that, and wonder what it may take to enrage myself to a point that , the single most greatest thing may mean nothing to nobody,
but other than an inthroled fanticy of myself doing "tha shit"

well, i am back, yesterday i went over to Lockhart. On my way over to Brenham and i love to stop by one of my favorite BBQ joints "Smittys" was "Cruez" but i like the building , so i go to Smitty's

I ussaly get a 1/4 pound brisket shoulder ,a link and a rib , with two pickles maybe cheese, oh and four slices of bread, man it good!, i have had almost a religious experances in this joint for years , ( next time I am in i will shoot the place down to give you all an idea, ), i like to take a slice of pickle with a little brisket and fold it up in a piece of bread and hit it with cheep hot sause they have their, and a pinch of peeper/salt too,.
I was sitting there eating thinking , would my new age hippy vegitatian gilrfriend ever eat at a place like this?,
hell no,! its too basic, all they serve is meat, , I thougt "my God!" what the fuck she wouldn't eat no Briskete, , ....at alll...
"what thu hell," its almost like grounds for breaking up with a woman if she don't eat smoked brisket,. its antiTexan, "tree-son-ish ! damnit".
but as i ate my food feeling a bit full,,,,.. admiring the grease and joise just explore from one of thier sausage links, feeling that sorta heavy feeling after you eat from here, like your body just started to con-jell...
i stated thinking

"man george, eat'en brisket all the time is great but have you seen the babes that eat like this everyday?", as a lady waddles past my table with a butcherwrapped picnicblanked of some five links a rack of pork rib and a pound of brisket,.
"yea " hummm,
maybe its good, my gal ,
she just eats her salids.
No need in starting another bad habit....

Well, i have to ake of for Brenham for the next couple of days, and be back with this colection of work for this bar , ( some french soundin name)? its gonna hold about 12 pieces,. i think for the rest of the afternoon i am going to just paint,

i am really getting excited about laying out this new super advanced pfa that i will be making paintings from, (when i get over to the warehouse) maybe next week, i will declare an super new set that will over ride all and it will take about three more months to put out, and then thats it i am threw here, for a while, i am sorta grounded here, in town for the next three months , plan on doing studio repairs etc., hey does any body out ther want to make a 400 buck investment on anything i produces from this set, you will have free pickings form this collection, need advance $ to buy studio time, you will get one hell of a deal!

well its December! and it froze last night , its getting cold,.

so i am in the planing and figuring phaze now, here with my coffee and the chicken's heat lamp i stole from their pen wedged between my legs, to heat my feet,
last night one of my roomates son's was over he is 17 or 18 i think , he started asking us questions about what we do around here, i went on this whole comedy routine about making something of your life,. explaining how we do what wewant around here our mommys arn't here to tell anymore about who or what we should be, like if i want to not take a bath for a week mommy isn't there to say no, or if i want to drink beer in the morning moomy isnt there to say get a job etc etc,
the kid about fell over , laughing partly cause he thought it was for real,
it got me thinking? i rember when i was a teenage and i would meet these older guys, 30plus and wonder why they weren't married or had a career,? it was like an absolute everybody has a wife kids and dept and a career, and is over wieght, everybody why don't you? whats wrong with you, ?! i used to think.
so its kinda fun to get into the role of the termanal party guy, always gun hoe and sorta discusting, at least thats the idea behind the chicken house.

last night we were wondering about Crazy Matt where he might be, its getting cold, I might go into full scale production on the PFA's if i can land me place to set up a display and all, i went by "Uncommon Objects" in Austin to see if they might take some of them, it looks like i am not going anywhere for a while?
One time out in Floyd out in that Antique shop this little girl saw were i slept in the shop and asked me is there where i live, i sid no i live in that box over in this corner and come out to play with my toys and invent paintings, it blew her mind, even at about 6 or 7 , this eastcoast mini posh little lady said "you have got to be kidding this is your life!"
"yeas we don't judge here, lets not judge all i do is play with toys whats wong with that"
it was amazing even at that age she wanted me to prove how i made money and where i ate?
i told her parents she would make a good junior tax auditor,
they were kinda embarrised that there little girl was giving this shake down on this homeless gentiman.
"Oh its ok mama i get this all the time"
