One of the interesting things i discovered in all my research on Sudduth, and keep in mind i never meet him , only know about him threw the net, which is limited, so i might have a sterotype., but
none the less i read this interesting article by this person trying to size him up , the folk art vs fine art, this in regards to rapid production. Suddtuh made alot of paintings and sold every one, cheep, . this article explains
what got me thinking is all the rapid fire expressionist who really want to be like Sudduth and get rid of all they make. Dick Wray comes to mind, this guy lumes over me like a shadow, i still owe him a whirly gig for this painting i traded , i started it but ????,!%@### i even defaulted on this obligation to this gellery for gigs too, yaaa ,maybe its just isn't in my blood? Well one of the things that struck me about Wray was how many paintings he had, he told me there must have been at least two more storages places filled with them,

he is a painter at heart, a painters painter. One of the interesting things about Sudduth is well, hell he could be a contempory artist, his work so looks nievely distorded that it would fit in any contemory gallery but, he sales mainly out of his house and art fairs to the genral public,. One of the things i get from the fine art crowds is this distain of the American public, any artist pandering to the whims and taste of the cheesy mob should be deemed an intelectual capitalist (Trader!) "we are here to educate not profit",
But i never got that impression from Sudduth, his subject may have been cute but his painting is not, folk art may have accidently inveneted a market of art thats outside the fine art crowd, moral presure to mean something, and found its way back to enterianing with paint, (cheaply)
as for Wray he isn't cute at all ,either, but i would bet if he sold everything he made he would be compelled to preform greater painterly hieghts than most would imagine, (thats the problem with expresionist painters) we love to preform with paint!, except no one give a crap !
so, one of the intertesting ideas to all this is why haven't the fine art crowds funneled their rapid fire painters in such a way to do them justice. why as a "fine" artist as Wray hasn't he gottin rid of all he has made,--rid means sale trade whatever- you know why?

its as much as what you state for yourslf, Sudduth just likes to sing as song tell a joke, Wray (i gathered) likes to deliever a surmon,.( but also being culturaly handicaped by being a Texas, likes to ham it up a bit,). so in some ways they are the same
