this looks to be about it on the show 12 pieces, total in about a month, three main paintings which will kick off this new set called "headlight paintings" things i found when i was driving late at night, ,
I think i am going to form a seperate site for this work,

The big achievement to the set of work is the main three paintings(snakes),

Man next week is going to be insain, installing a show, and i am in three receptions on thursday, i got the box man sculpt piece in to the "Fire in the belly show" so this is my first entry into Bluestar, everything is on hold until this deal is over.

I told JAR in a converstion or group crit, about being a visionary of fantacy artist, he is making work about the future, he believes in his visions of the future, and rightfull so, its been difficult in critques with him cause the conversations evolves into whats the future about, and in this postmodern punk tradgy everybody is in agreement that its all bad,. has there every been a moment in human history that somebody thinks the future is great, oh wait evanglical Christians, so i told JAR that for me to be that little extra of an asshole that i am , to show the love, i am going to wage an JesusJe'ha'de on his unrealistic version of the future with out Christ that "this is the future you asshole!" If you get saved you won't be so bummed out,!

One of my favorite storys , when i first met JAR , he is a vegan and I started to tell him about my favorite BBQ joint out in Lockhart, i was with another buddie of mine and we both love this place,
i told him ,

"JAR, we should take you over to this place and lay out a big slab of brisket put it right in front of you and see what yous does, kinda like takin the hottest woman out there and having her bend over in front of a gay guy and if he don't get on it, then you know yep he's gay!, after you look at this big old fine smoked brittle brisket, and not eat'n it than righ off the bat, well we know the truth about you, "

this band played, called night Viking, this was the goofyest band ever, i sat in amazement watching them play, it remindedme of the zommzomms or electic company, ?, there is a movie called "Friends forever" one should to be looked into, one thing i think is happening int the Austin music seen is now, loud punk industail or basicly painfull music, is now the norm so how to make music go beyond insainy, well in austin, its music that sounds like childrens music, and man is it wierd,! i love it ,
the band had this real funny feel to it, there were these two nerd characters playing on a xelaphone and beeting an old suitcase, but the main singer had this like really weathered look to him like he had been in rehab all his life or an A&A lifer, real skinny, his music was serious too, but the band, and then there was Amanda doing some reactments of the songs with toys, is this for real, how do they practis this stuff,
i guess its like art itself, whats real or fake? , especialy when dealing with the lowbrow,
one note to all this, is i have found its alot easyer to have people believe in something demenaing or morronic than something brilant, , there is something believeable to it, that can never be acheived in making great art or music, no one want to like some one who thinks there music is the "best" so lets be silly about it all,
at least we can believe in that.

well i am in three shows this commig week!
man i made alot of food, i am in fajitas taco addictions now, running back to my apartment to grill up some met on a corn torria with serronos, i am getting to jacked up on coffeee and running over there,
what to do?
its gonna be tight, this show, the rattrap maze thing weighs a ton, and it has candy hotglued to it, some one around here said "hey thats not fine art! it isn't archieval!" oh yea how about i achivel my foot in your ass, for ever!

Buddies Bemusings

one thing on the whole outsider folk bs, i am a neurotic you have to keep this in mind, the outsider bs, which comes from reading all these Raw vision mags and folk art messager, that galery out in floyd had all the back issues so i read the whole lot several times, i started cultivating what i do and was it outsider in nature or was its stylistic fakery? and there there is the expose elemant of fake outsider work,
it kinda reminds me of a storie out in the big Bend area where i lived from time to time, they have bordercrossing stations there and you get asked alot of questions as to who you are, etc are you a smuggler or alien?, i would get all nervious wondering if the border patrol would think i was a smuggler, which i am not, but being nervious about being seen this way i would act suspious like i am hiding something,
so one time when i was at the station they asked me to get outta my truck and they put the dogs on the truck to sniff out any drugs, of cource there was none, so they asked me inside, but in my nerviousness i started cussing and halering about being harased , so it must have irrated them and and they asked me inside,
they wanted to search my cloths etc, so i waited in this room and a buch of border patrol offices were there asking me questions and they said they weren't gonna let me leave untill i undressed, i cussed a bunch but it looked like there was no way outta this mess and had to comply, so i got down to my undies,
one of the offices said, well it looks like there is no drugs on ya,
but we need to make sure, that you ain't hidding any other drugs in any other places,
i said what the fuck are you kidding ,
he said you need to get naked and we can see what going on, , i think i called him a bunch of names, and he and the other guys said ,
"boy , we gots to do a body cavity check, do you know what that means?"
"ok i know what i gots to do you #@$%@#@$%^"
it was embarrising which these guys all standing around bent over showing them my ass.
"well your all clean!" he said
"what the fuck ,! you !@#@# why would anybody hide drugs up there thats harrisment, its impossible to hide drugs up there you know!
he said in an old west Texas cowboy voice
"listen here boy the good folks from Mexico hide all kinda stuff up there, just this week we pull this small canister of illegal sumstances from fat ladys ass, "
he had the canister , i thought there is no way that that canister was put in someones rectum , no way,
of cource i couldn't keep my mouth shut about it, and started sayin shit like, "your lying that was put up some fat ladys ass no way!"

"boy you calling me a lyer!" he said as the rest of the border partol offices strated getiing up from the desks, in kinda like a bar room stand off
it was quiet..
So i had to back up what i said, there is no way that some one could have that up up there as no way!
He said" well boy how about we show ya " .
what?!?
and before i knew it ,cause i was still naked and they haven't givin me back my cloth about three ruff necked borter partol offices had me bent over and that cansiter was up in ther qicker that jiffy lube 15 minitues before closing

He said "now walk around notice how easy it is no pain or discomfort unless you ain't shit lately" . and he was right it was like it wasn't even there,.
"you see how easy it is to hide illegal drugs if you realy wanted" he said.
after i walked around playing along inthis uncomfortable experice
he said"just like last week, we found this plastic lidder coke bottle snuggled gently in the canyon'esk ass of this fat ol' lady"
i told him you gots to fucking kidding me, there is no way that some one could have that up there ass,

Well i am just sizing up the show here, and my truck is acting funny, didn't start yesterday, right off the bat,
Its been real fun talking to folks up on campus about life and what not, about where all this crap goes, i think i am figureing out what the fuck , i have been doing over the last ten years , in conversations with these people, like the last 15 years was a dream,

In a brief summery,
as i figure out what i have been up too, since 95 til 05
well it goes like this
one is the need to test and make your self better, but being controling and machistic or myrter like, i engrained myself in this absurdist idea to live out this jesture , this being simpley put you live offf of what you make, the catch is nobody wants it, (headless chickens dancing in there own vomit)
so what do you do, as a self inflicted comdey jesture, to make it happen, when it isn't sucessful,
make more comedy who says its ever gonna stop here, that will lead the way!
why not ,fuck you, get a job!,

its all the preachy self improvements psyche stuff gone to the extreme but with "art" training, in particular chicken paintings, and fetish paintings in the introverted crafter's zone
the idea if i only do this ? i will be better, or like more enlighted,
well all this does create history of stuff
and example of it is all the Halloween art on this site, and the ebay syndrome,
i have been coasting off of obsessions, in the bad art zone basicly but as role playing, its byproduct is artworks and sets

so being here i am sorta putting together what it was i was doing , and its not with out populartiy alot of other artist have been doing it too, i think my main paper here is going to be something to do with authorship authicticicy and the imagination( i know it sounds broad but , i have spicific artifacts and contempory additudes to back it up(90's) , mainly spining off the slacker/bad-art/urban-outsider zone from which i came Ausitin/San Marcos( an work on my spelling!

I started emailing this guy , oh about a year ago, he is a musician and started posting art work on Ebay, they mainly started out as inspired drawings from Bill Traylor, then he mixed red mud in with them, and he started selling alot ,( we also look out for art frauds like the Traylor knock offs witch get posted from time to time, Traylors work ,if authincated could go over 10,000, so being on ebay could it be possible to find a traylor stored in an old book? but then there are the blanted scams who cann't even copy the guy right, . Steven told me once that in his lots before the redmud stuff he would say point blank this is not traylor!! and make pictures with with items that were dated in this time, (Traylor made work in the 30's) and he still had irrate art people emailing him )
i have been watching his sucess on ebay for a while ,
one of the appeals to the ebay folk section is its a close nite set with a typical idea of what is folk art, mainly the southern gernra, and crafters, but you get alot of odd stuff. people post colection and then you have the self-rep artists, who are outsider-folk-frindge-nieve/ or just borred or desperate, Steven is a smart guy, and he was amazed and the sucess his work was getting, and watching it grow, plus he is a collector, we have that in common and we watch the folk art section,
plus there is the commonality of selling which is adventuresume itself
one cautionary note to his sucess was,
this last fall he had a guy start buying everything he posted, ran the prices way up, but wouldn't pay or did pay all at onces, in parts, it can be maddening cause if the top guy defaults and he has like couple of other counter bidders on the lot your stuck with contacting them, it can be suspious and plus your left with all the ebay fees on high stuff , that you didn't pay for, and ebay does get your money threw a credit card,
but this wacko strung Steven along for a couple of months, it can be hard to discrimante between a good customer and some one who is irresponcible. You want to give them the benifit of doupt, i think the guy just dispeared left steven cold oweing him money, but the results of it your abit wiser,
in the process of th ordeal, when this guy was bidding on everything another art preditor saw the sucess he was having on ebay and wanted to set Steven up in a big time show in NYNY, whaoo
this guy who bought a couple of pieces wanted the artist to send something like 60 pieces for a big show with PR, TV interviews and everything was sold was promissed, of cource, and there was a contract, sounds fishy...
you bet,
i got moment ot moment or emails about how the deal was bult up and then played out, it looked beliveable (in the begining) but, sounded too good to be true,
from what i figured it was an furniture/antique imported dealer with a shop maybe or a sales man trying to land shows for a gallery,& and dealing on the side, .
but Steven dropped the whole deal , he saved himself a massive headache,

he has got an amazing imagination and spins work around his southern past,mythic, almost abstract

i havn't painting a painting like this in a while, one note of interest ebay helped speed things up for me and also having a freash lay out of colors, no terp and alot of drybrushing, i didn't do my ussaly bag of tricks like glazing or splattering it was all on there, right here right now, i like this one,

this is the middle painting two the other two, i call it my dualality painting, every part of it reflects the next,, wheather i get done with it is another story,

this is Ms Pacman Rattraps, not finnished

ill give you a typical idea of what its like up here, there is an artist here, a really good printmaker Korean, and she is really nice and detail, well she did this project over in the gallery E called the "dots projects", cause she does real realistic narrtive stuff and then leaped into this like pop art with dots/sculpture sorta fun, but looked silly, she got railed at from the "peers" here, so i thought , man it would be funny to take up the dots projects from her cause everybody is so indiffert to it, it has this idea like what the fuck, art the dots,( i am going to take phots of the show so you all have an idea, ) (i like impossible art projects kinda like dressing up as a woman and going into a redneck bar and picking fights with folks).
but i have a feeling she is going to abandone the project cause its not "art" sound yet, i told some folks around here that well you tell her to change and she is gonna do what you tell her and damn if she do and damn if she don't, this is it? N/Y? but i have a feeling she will drop the deal, but the marvel of the project, the dot project, to ponder into the dots and make the dot project comeplete pick it up where she would turn it away and see if i can handle the dots,much to the surgrinds of who the fuck ever, yeas
it all comming to gether,
I ended up talking to her moments ago about all this, well not everything but, like alot of the advice i have told any body who is up here is that they gotta get mean about there work, believe int the shit, why they made it, its conviction and character thats being weight alot, of course you have to have some smarts about it,

the begining of Spring Break

well this is my first spring break in like ten years,
i just woke up from a nap and are up here in the dead studio listening to Chemical Brtothers, drinking coffee,

whats in store , i need to get into the studio and shoot some stuff, and i am going to do some profiles on some new folks i meet,
one piece i did and its always the worst ones it go into to some university booklet on grad art, a chickenbone tar piece,
and it looks like my man box might be going into a couple of shows,

but the main project and i am already , 0-8 done for the 8 point cycle is going to be called "We live together"
this sculpture work will be my first real piece done here,
then the rattrap Mspacman

well, i would say this is a romantics game for now, the contempory art seen is mired in bullshit investigations acting like intelectuals basicly its real funny here talking to folks, one of my heros is howlin wolf and alto of my delivery is due to Howlin, i like the simplicty to all of it being the approach to the painting being purly visual, all this other contempory fine at speek smells of alot of nerds never who have never been fucked before, alot of over explaining and hyperelectiveology,(thanks Dr Sass for that term "Madness and Modernism") so its easy to spot the dialoges here and sorta lable them for what they are....
as for me
well i am a simpleton at heart and impressionistic painter with a flare for the macbre, Drek put it best, a romanitc easle painter in a hi tech world or overly hyped art world
