Yea, i heard a while back , from the net actually that, he commited sucide, in his house, read about it on some site somewhere,
i never really got to know the guy, Monte Schatz this artist out in Marathon Texas
, he was fifty plus a bit eccentric and sorta delisional from what i could remember in talking to him,
you meet all kinda of folks in the art buisness, some are real stubborn, like they never really delt with or accepted life beyond a school setting, and the art gradurism forget about it!, it pumps the fire even higher, i sorta got that from him. he was obsessive, like to make layered polyworks about snake patterns , i think he collected a lot of snakes, and claimed he had secret knowlege of them,.
its almost like a wise tale, you play with fire,
i think what set him off on his own demize was one of his snakes bit him, he let them run free ,i think in his house, slept with them etc, i think some were poisenious too, he was real whacky about them, anther story about him i heard was he was to move to Marfa in the begining but , some how the city found out he had something like 200 plus vipers the said "no way!", and threaten him.
I talked to him a couple of times out in Marathon when i lived out there in 2002, he was out there, basicly didn't listen much, and would rattle on about stuff, i remember on time observing him at this wierd art opening at this bank that was opening their, and he hovered around his piece of art, it sat on a table and it had a blanket under it, . at the time of the receptionion he was so OCD about presenting the piece he was straightening the table cloth and arrageing the piece over and over, i thought it was some kinda comedy act,.
thats one thing about the desart area, if your a single male 50 plus man, its gonna be tuff, ,
i think Bill, one of the disgruntle adjunct, wants to go out there , i told him the sun would eat him alive, if not the solitude, cause once your out there , its like retireing the bull to the pasture, that's it you just going to become more eccentric, nobody is going to fuck you, ever again! well maybe some wondering mountain goat riding SUVs

another night at "the cove"
and anther night of drinking
So whats some of the typical dramas around the house here, hummm a typical day here is quit simple, oh last night i went over to the Cove and stagged a utube bit with Chris Sauter which was fun, argued with a Miller beer distributer about Millers new beer Miller Chill , about how it sux etc, i am trying to convice Autum cause she broke up recently to go out with Herold, and my bragging abouthow tuff my current girlfreind is cause i took her o a trip to Brenham going in my truck with no airconditioning no radio and taking nothing but the back road moving at 45 miles an hour, humm what else
The trip over the was fun and comming back, it was so fucking hot! an odd rain storm was drifting over Luling and we pasted threw it the tempeture dropped ten degrees, and i took here ot the Gonzalas jaim museum, and showed her the old cell, i need to do a write up on the place,
i was trying to tell here no other lady could handle this trip with out complaining about how hot it is and just doing what i wanted, she is a real trooper!

things are rolling along as normal, i suspect i am getting obsessed with the net its like an addiction, this site,

i do like the ebay deal and comdey, but it don't pay for shit ! and i think it consumes alot of energy, i could spend in other places,
ebay is like the absulte act of self humi'le'ations and pathic begging, its fun, in a hobo kinda way, it almost feels good, in a relgious tortured sence of being,

but things could be spent more wisely, but one thing i like about the ebay deal is its real interactive almost like the cargo cults having odd rituals, wondering if they are going to recieve the goods, or approveal
thats something that when this site was errected in 2003, i also jumped on ebay, and started selling work, now over 300 pieces have been mailed off, and i would say , my painting skills have increased alot!, cause of the use of paper and just wanting something to be done. now so i can post,
So it has it pros and cons, the problem of the whole deal is it gets me obsessed with the results , like magic or something,.
So where will this site go, , after the RRSATX deal is over, this Dec., ill be in a new era, and it will be this build up to this vist over in Japan, somewhere next spring, but one idea i am cooking up is the Freddy loves Nina deal, something when it happen,

Another passing thought about all this comming to ahead, is whats the base thing i like to do,?
As i am constructing this final show, i have been juggling alround alot of ideas about whats the purpose to all this. One of the sand traps i think most artists get into in the conceptualist heat zone is just puting ideas to symbols , its works when you cann't understand them but get the impression there is something to all this mess, it, like reading rips pages from several pulp novels and smacking them together and saying it means something,.
Then you get in to basicly judging the ideas in the backdrop of fatonable ideas the the world has put forth on its central stage.
To me alot of the art object made for the show were curious jokes or admissions form some flash point on a road or sipping coffee listening to jerry springer's guest spout out tempertantums of revenge,.
The colection when its complete is more psychological than anything else, One of the benifits which i drive home here, is being isolated and getting a sence that the world starts here not the finely packed citys and the congested grid of cars and media. i supose with out it you can find a world which become more about you than about others, and i would say in the large scoop, that communications on that level, create a feel of something that is appealing and unique.

one of the final piece is this or was Cheetoes box deal, which started as cheetoes identificalions then morfed into virus strain identificalions based on genitics then to a bio warfare explosive device now to a box decked out in tar with cheeotes or the color of but now made as bugs, in this like foot locker box wraped with rope and belts, and having a timing device embedded along the side, siting on a table of stool, sounds wierd,
